There are many people on the globe who are victims of unwanted body hair. Over the last few decades, hair-free skin has been the symbol of beauty and flawlessness. While females complain about body hair the most, metro sexual men, too, have been trying new techniques of getting hair removed from the body. The common technique used for getting rid of unwanted hair is shaving. But shaving is equally hazardous to the skin and can cause hairs to become hard and coarse. Permanent hair removal has been one of the most sought after sections of modern cosmetology. There are many techniques used in different clinics that promise to get rid of unwanted hair from the body without damaging the skin.

The first method of permanent hair removal that is widely popular is electrolysis. This particular treatment has been used for many decades with occasional changes and advancements. This system removes hair permanently, but the results are sometimes dependant on the skin color and nature of body hair. The process is generally painless, though doctors often give local anesthesia in many cases. The process uses epilator which induces probe in the follicle of the hair which destroys it and prevents re-growth of hair. The patient might need to visit the clinic many times depending on the effectiveness of the procedure. Since the process has been successful in most skin types, this system is one of the most used techniques for permanent hair removal in many countries.

Laser hair removal is another popular way of getting rid of unwanted body hair. The use of lasers is comparatively new in cosmetology and permanent hair removal. The entire process was under experimentation for more than twenty years till clinics started using lasers in 1990s. Just like electrolysis, laser therapy too needs multiple settings with doctors. Patients need to visit the clinic for more than six times in the initial stages. There are many things and parameters to be considered, and doctors can only suggest the different precautions that need to be taken during and after the procedure. Dark colored hair take the minimum of time for getting removed where as light colored hair might need many sessions with the dermatologist.

All types of permanent hair removal techniques have complaints in many cases. While most clinics assure that they can do wonders to skin hair without damaging the cells, there are many cases where complications have arisen. There may be redness and itching on the skin with the sudden eruption of rashes. Many people also complain about swelling around the treated area. Pains are often common with permanent hair removal which is treated with numbing creams. Many clinics charge extra for such creams, and such creams are applied half an hour before the procedure.

Permanent hair removal is quite developed in modern times, and, therefore, is safe in most cases. However, like every medical treatment under cosmetology, there are some side-effects which only a reputed and experienced doctor can suggest and advice. Patients must opt for reputed branded clinics rather than saving money on cheaper treatments.
